Alternate analytical technology(AAT) for soil
Alternate analytical technology(AAT) for soil nutrient analysis through image processing of chromatogram(A project supported by Department of science and technology,)
Principle: A qualitative one in order to separate different fractions by means of capillarity of the suitable filter paper is prepared with a photo-reactive substance, which reacts with the photo reactive substance, which reacts with the extraction substances and precipitation of this reaction occurs at various distances from the point of application.
Testing procedure:
(0.5 ml)AgNo3
Insert filter paper wick into paper disk
Allow spreading for solution(3cm, 3 min)
Dry paper disk for 2 hrs
Insert fresh new wick
Apply soil solution(NaOH and 3gm of soil in 100ml)
Allow the solution to spread till 7 cm
Allow the solution to spread till 7 cm
Remove the paper disk and wick
Dry the paper disk for 2hrs under shade
Image development in 800 lux illumination
Image processing
Report
Accuracy The new technology developed gives acceptable level of accuracy(>90%) for Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Iron, Manganese, Copper compared with conventional analytical methods.
