Botryodiplodia rot: Botryodiplodia theobromae
Symptoms :
- It causes considerable damage during storage and transit.
- The affected fruits shoe brownish discolouration mostly at the stem-end which gradually proceeds downwards in an irregular wavy-manner.
- In advanced stages, numerous, small pycnidia are produced over the entire surface of the fruit.
- The rot is soft and watery.
- Maximum decay occurs at 30°C.
Management:
- Careful handling, storage at 150C and quick disposal can minimize the losses.
